You can request deletion of your Kathasaar account and associated personal data using one of the methods below.
Request deletion from the app
Direct in-app account-deletion requests are available in Kathasaar mobile app version 1.6.0 and later. While logged in, open:
Profile > Settings > Account actions > Delete account
Read the information shown, optionally provide your reason for leaving, confirm your choice, and submit the request.
Request deletion by email
If you use an app version earlier than 1.6.0 or cannot access your account or the app, email hello@kathasaar.com with the subject “Account Deletion Request”.
Include the following information so we can identify and verify the account:
- The email address registered with your Kathasaar account.
- Your Kathasaar username, if available.
- Your reason for leaving, if you wish to share it. This is optional.
Never send your password, Google password, authentication token, OTP, government identification, or payment information. We may ask for limited additional information if reasonably necessary to verify that the request belongs to the account holder.
What happens after your request
- Deactivation and public anonymization: After an in-app request is confirmed, or an email request is verified and applied, your account is deactivated. Your public profile, stories, and comments show “Unnamed User” without your profile photo, biography, or other public personal details. Cached views may take up to three days to update.
- 90-day recovery period: Your account remains in a restricted recovery state for 90 days. If you successfully log in during this period, the deletion request is cancelled automatically, your account is reactivated, and your original profile name and content attribution are restored.
- Permanent deletion: If you do not log in during the 90-day recovery period, your personal account is permanently deleted after the recovery period ends.
What is deleted or anonymized
- Your account profile and public personal details.
- Your profile photo and biography.
- Account-linked drafts, reading progress, favorites, library activity, reading history, follows, notification-device tokens, and similar operational data, subject to technical and legal retention requirements.
- Kathasaar Points and other account-linked benefits or access.
What is not deleted
- Your published stories are not deleted. They remain available under the author name “Unnamed User.”
- Your published comments may remain where needed to preserve conversations, but they are attributed to “Unnamed User” without your account email or profile details.
- Limited security, fraud-prevention, moderation, legal, transaction, or audit records may be retained where reasonably necessary or legally required.
- Restricted backup copies may remain until they are overwritten through the normal backup cycle.
