Terms and Conditions – Kathasaar

Welcome to Kathasaar. These Terms and Conditions (“Terms”) govern your use of the Kathasaar website at kathasaar.com, the Android application “Kathasaar – Hindi Stories,” and related services operated by Kathasaar Media (together, “Kathasaar,” the “Platform,” “we,” “us,” or “our”).

By accessing or using Kathasaar, creating an account, or submitting content, you agree to these Terms and our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the Platform.

1. Eligibility and Age Requirements

  • Kathasaar is intended for users aged 13 years or older.
  • If you are under the age of legal majority where you live, you may use Kathasaar only with permission and supervision from a parent or legal guardian.
  • Content marked as mature is restricted to users aged 18 years or older.
  • You must be legally permitted to use the Platform under applicable law.

2. Accounts and Account Security

Some features require an account. You agree to provide accurate information, keep it reasonably current, protect your login credentials, and promptly notify us if you suspect unauthorized access. You are responsible for activity performed through your account except where applicable law provides otherwise.

You may sign in using Kathasaar credentials or a supported third-party sign-in service such as Google. Your use of a third-party sign-in service is also subject to that provider’s terms. You may not impersonate another person, create deceptive accounts, sell or transfer an account, or access another user’s account without authorization.

Direct in-app account-deletion requests are available in Kathasaar mobile app version 1.6.0 and later under Settings > Account actions > Delete account. Users of earlier versions, or users who cannot access the app, may submit a request through our account-deletion page or contact hello@kathasaar.com. Once the new deletion workflow is applied, the account is deactivated and publicly anonymized during a 90-day recovery period. Logging in during that period automatically cancels deletion and restores the account. Account deletion and retention are handled as described in our Privacy Policy and as required by law.

3. Kathasaar Services and Features

Kathasaar provides Hindi stories and related discovery and community features, which may include search, genres, author profiles, favorites, follows, comments, reports, notifications, reading progress, recommendations, series, premium stories, reading-time records, referrals, Kathasaar Points, and the Kathasaar Store.

Story-writing tools are currently provided through the Kathasaar mobile app. Writers may save drafts, add posters and genres, create chapters, submit stories for review, and mark eligible submissions as a series or premium story. A published series may support additional chapters; a non-series story may not support new chapters after publication. Some series or other features may be available only in the mobile app.

Features may differ by device, app version, account status, region, or platform. Descriptions of future or preview features do not guarantee their release.

4. User-Generated Content and Acceptance of Rules

Stories, chapters, titles, descriptions, posters, profile information, comments, and other material submitted by users are “User Content.” Before creating or uploading User Content, you must accept these Terms and follow the content rules below.

You are responsible for your User Content and confirm that:

  • You created it or have all permissions needed to submit and publish it.
  • It does not violate copyright, trademark, privacy, publicity, contractual, or other rights.
  • It is accurately labelled where mature themes or other warnings apply.
  • It complies with these Terms, applicable law, and any submission guidance shown in the Platform.

Submission does not guarantee approval, publication, recommendation, premium status, continued availability, or any particular audience or earnings. We may review, reject, limit, label, unpublish, or remove User Content when reasonably necessary for safety, quality, rights protection, legal compliance, or enforcement of these Terms.

5. Ownership and Licence to Kathasaar

You retain ownership of your original User Content. By submitting User Content, you grant Kathasaar a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free licence to host, store, reproduce, format, adapt for technical presentation, display, distribute, and promote that content through Kathasaar and Kathasaar’s official promotional channels. This licence exists only to operate, improve, secure, and promote the Platform and your content.

The licence continues while your content is available through Kathasaar. Following removal or account deletion, limited copies may remain temporarily in backups, records, cached pages, or material already shared for legitimate operational, evidentiary, legal, or security purposes. We will handle deletion requests in accordance with our Privacy Policy and applicable law.

Kathasaar’s name, logos, visual design, software, databases, and original platform materials are owned by or licensed to Kathasaar and are protected by applicable intellectual-property laws. These Terms do not transfer ownership of them to you.

6. Prohibited Content and Conduct

You must not create, upload, publish, promote, link to, or engage in content or conduct that:

  • Is illegal or facilitates illegal activity.
  • Sexually exploits or endangers a child, depicts child sexual abuse, sexualizes minors, or attempts inappropriate contact with a minor. Suspected child-safety violations may be reported to appropriate authorities.
  • Contains pornography, sexually explicit material, non-consensual sexual content, sexual exploitation, trafficking, or predatory content.
  • Promotes hatred, discrimination, terrorism, violent extremism, credible threats, self-harm, or violence against a person or protected group.
  • Harasses, bullies, stalks, humiliates, blackmails, or exposes another person’s private or sensitive information.
  • Infringes intellectual-property, privacy, publicity, or other legal rights.
  • Is fraudulent, deceptive, impersonating, plagiarized, manipulated to mislead, spam, or designed to artificially obtain views, follows, referrals, reading time, points, or other benefits.
  • Contains malware, executable code, PHP files, archives intended to bypass upload restrictions, malicious links, or instructions designed to compromise the Platform or another system.
  • Attempts unauthorized access, security circumvention, scraping, reverse engineering, service disruption, credential abuse, or automated use not expressly permitted by us.
  • Abuses reporting, commenting, referral, follow, notification, publishing, or points features.

7. Mature-Theme Content

Some fictional stories may contain mature emotional situations, violence, difficult social themes, or language unsuitable for younger readers. Eligible content may be labelled “Mature Theme” and placed behind age and content controls. Mature content is filtered by default where required, and users must confirm they are at least 18 before enabling access.

A mature label does not permit content prohibited by Section 6. Kathasaar does not permit pornographic or sexually explicit content, child sexual abuse material, exploitation, or other illegal or restricted content.

8. Reporting, Blocking, Moderation, and Appeals

Kathasaar provides in-app tools to report objectionable content and users and, where applicable, to block users. Please use the clearly labelled report or block controls available in the relevant story, comment, profile, or interaction. You may also contact hello@kathasaar.com.

We assess reports according to their nature, severity, available evidence, and safety risk, and take action within a reasonable timeframe. Actions may include warnings, reduced visibility, age restrictions, rejection, removal, disabling interactions, point adjustments, account suspension, or account termination. Urgent safety and illegal-content reports may receive priority. We do not guarantee a fixed review time or a particular outcome.

We may use automated signals and human review, but no moderation system is perfect. Users must not submit knowingly false, retaliatory, or abusive reports. If you believe an enforcement decision was made in error, contact us with the relevant account and content details for reconsideration.

9. Premium Stories and Kathasaar Points

Kathasaar Points are an in-platform engagement benefit that may be earned through eligible activities shown in the app, such as qualifying app reading time, streaks, referrals, sharing, readership milestones, or premium-story unlocks by unique readers. The current earning and spending rates, eligibility limits, and descriptions displayed in the app form part of these Terms and may be updated prospectively.

  • Only eligible app reading time counts toward reading-time point rewards. Website reading time and legacy records whose source cannot be verified as app activity are not eligible.
  • Unlocking a premium story deducts the displayed number of points from the reader. An eligible writer may receive the displayed writer reward for each qualifying unique reader who unlocks each premium story.
  • Referral benefits require genuine eligible users. Self-referrals, duplicate or fabricated accounts, automation, coordinated abuse, or other manipulation are prohibited.
  • Kathasaar Points are not money, legal tender, cryptocurrency, property, a deposit, or a stored-value account. They cannot be sold, transferred, withdrawn, exchanged for cash, or used outside Kathasaar.
  • Points do not involve gambling, wagering, chance-based cash prizes, or a promise of financial return.
  • The Kathasaar Store may include previews or point-based benefits. Availability does not guarantee that any specific item or benefit will remain available.

We may audit point activity and correct duplicate, mistaken, reversed, fraudulent, or technically invalid entries. We will not intentionally remove valid points without a legitimate operational, security, fraud-prevention, legal, or rules-enforcement reason. If a premium story is removed or becomes unavailable, access, point restoration, or another remedy will be handled according to the circumstances and applicable law.

Kathasaar Points are currently earned through engagement and are not offered for direct purchase. If paid digital products or subscriptions are introduced later, applicable pricing, billing terms, refund information, and Google Play billing requirements will be disclosed before purchase.

10. Reading Progress, Notifications, and Recommendations

Kathasaar may record reading progress, reading time, favorites, follows, story interactions, and similar activity to provide reading history, recommendations, Platform analytics, and eligible points. App and website reading activity may be recorded separately. Details are provided in our Privacy Policy.

If you permit notifications, we may send service and engagement notifications, including notices about newly published stories, authors you follow, new followers, account activity, or important Platform updates. Notification delivery is controlled partly by your device, operating system, network, and notification settings, so delivery time is not guaranteed. You may manage notification permission in your device settings.

11. Copyright and Other Rights Complaints

If you believe content on Kathasaar infringes your copyright or other legal rights, email hello@kathasaar.com and include your contact details, identification of the protected work or right, the exact URL or content identifier, an explanation of the alleged infringement, supporting evidence, and a statement that the information supplied is accurate and submitted in good faith.

We may request further information, restrict or remove the identified content, notify the uploader, or take other appropriate action. Repeated infringement may result in account restrictions or termination. Knowingly false rights complaints may themselves violate these Terms and applicable law.

12. Third-Party Services and External Links

Kathasaar may use or link to third-party services, including Google sign-in, Google Play, social networks, analytics, hosting, email, and notification providers. Third-party services are governed by their own terms and privacy practices. We are not responsible for third-party content or services that we do not control, but this does not limit any responsibility that cannot legally be excluded.

13. Platform Availability and Updates

We aim to keep Kathasaar available and functional but cannot guarantee uninterrupted or error-free operation. Maintenance, security incidents, device compatibility, network failures, legal obligations, or third-party services may affect availability. We may add, improve, restrict, replace, or discontinue features where reasonably necessary.

Stories or account features may become unavailable because of author action, moderation, rights complaints, law, security, or technical limitations. We use reasonable safeguards for account and progress data, but you should retain your own copy of original writing before submission.

14. Suspension, Termination, and Account Deletion

We may restrict, suspend, or terminate access, remove content, or disable features when we reasonably believe there is a violation of these Terms, a security threat, fraud, illegal activity, rights infringement, risk to users, or a legal or platform-policy requirement. Depending on urgency and risk, action may occur with or without advance notice. Where appropriate, we may provide notice or an opportunity to seek review.

You may stop using Kathasaar or request account deletion at any time. A confirmed request immediately deactivates the account and changes its public profile and content attribution to “Unnamed User”; cached views may take up to three days to update. Published stories are retained. If you log in within 90 days, deletion is cancelled automatically and your original name and profile attribution are restored. After 90 days, the personal account is permanently deleted, retained stories and comments remain attributed to “Unnamed User,” and you may lose drafts, unlocked-story access, points, reading history, and other account-linked features. Certain security, moderation, transaction, or backup records may be retained where required for legal compliance, fraud prevention, dispute resolution, backup integrity, or protection of other users, as explained in the Privacy Policy.

15. Disclaimers and Limitation of Liability

Kathasaar hosts fictional and user-generated content primarily for reading and entertainment. Content does not constitute medical, legal, financial, mental-health, or other professional advice. User views do not necessarily represent Kathasaar’s views.

To the extent permitted by applicable law, the Platform is provided on an “as available” basis, and Kathasaar is not liable for indirect, incidental, special, or consequential losses arising from use of the Platform. Nothing in these Terms excludes warranties, remedies, or liability that cannot lawfully be excluded, including applicable consumer rights or liability for fraud or wilful misconduct.

16. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms to reflect changes in features, law, safety standards, or business practices. The revised effective date will be shown at the top. We will provide reasonable notice of material changes where required or practicable. If consent is legally required, we will request it. Otherwise, continued use after the revised Terms take effect means you accept them.

17. Governing Law and Disputes

These Terms are governed by the laws of India. Subject to applicable consumer-protection rights and mandatory local law, disputes will be submitted to a court of competent jurisdiction in India. Before starting formal proceedings, you may contact us so we can try to resolve the concern.

18. General Terms

If any provision is found unenforceable, the remaining provisions will continue to apply. A delay in enforcing a provision is not a waiver. These Terms and the Privacy Policy form the agreement between you and Kathasaar regarding the Platform, except where additional terms are clearly presented for a particular feature.
